What Kentucky did well: Ride the hot hand. Malik Monk was the only Wildcat to make a three-pointer, but the talented freshman drained seven of them, two more than Michigan State made as a team. The Wildcats also made life uncomfortable for Miles Bridges, forcing the Spartan rookie into nine turnovers and a 2-for-11 performance from the floor.
What Michigan State did well: Compete valiantly before Kentucky's athleticism and defensive lockdown in the second half put the game out of reach. "Our problems were the turnovers and the offense," said Tom Izzo. "I don't have any excuse on why our shooters weren't ready to shoot, but we're going to have to improve."
