Despite a brief hiatus, the professional basketball career of Scott Machado is once again active.

Machado, who was waived by the Houston Rockets last month following a cup of coffee in which the former Gaels guard score eight points in six games, has resurfaced with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Rockets' NBDL affiliate for whom Machado played earlier this season while not on Houston's active roster.  The signing comes a mere two weeks after A Daly Dose Of Hoops caught up with Machado at Iona College, where he was on hand to watch his alma mater's 84-73 victory over Fairfield back on January 18th.

Last season's MAAC Player of the Year in his final campaign at Iona, Machado made his return to the Vipers this past Saturday, scoring two points in 18 minutes; but had a much more productive outing two nights later against the Springfield Armor, ending the night with 14 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds in a 112-97 Viper win.  For the year, Machado is averaging 11.4 points per game for the Vipers to go with 6.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds in just under 32 minutes per contest.

Machado's next game comes later this morning in a 10am tipoff against the Erie Bayhawks, the New York Knicks' NBDL affiliate that features former St. John's star D.J. "The Hitman" Kennedy on its roster.  A Daly Dose Of Hoops will continue to have updates on Machado's progress this season, so please check in periodically.
